An Adventure Themed Nursery (and a Free Printable)

March 16, 2020 Jess

While we're dreaming of future family trips, we're trying to instill an early love for adventure in the littlest one. It seemed fitting that the inspiration for his nursery struck while we were exploring Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada. Just a short drive from Banff National Park, Yoho is smaller but just as stunning.

An Experiential Gift Guide: Detroit & Beyond

November 27, 2019December 1, 2019 Jess

There's a time and a place for "stuff," for sure. But this holiday season, the gifts that I'm craving (and the ones that I'm giving) are experiences, not things. You don't have to be an avid traveler - or even an armchair traveler - to appreciate many of these, but several are geared toward the… Continue reading An Experiential Gift Guide: Detroit & Beyond

My Valentines. (Let’s pretend that Mack isn’t mean mugging under three layers of hoods on our 19-degree hike, mmkay?) 💛
One of my favorite cookie hacks, which comes from - who else? - my mama, is using white chocolate “melting wafers” as frosting 💕
My eyes are closed. His eyes are closed. And then there’s that epic drool caught mid breeze. But we’re both smiling, and that alone makes it feed worthy 😆
Can we just take a moment to appreciate these Lake Michigan ICE BALLS?! 😳 I’d never seen them in real life before and they are pretty much the coolest winter spectacle I’ve laid eyes on.
What do you get when you combine an adorable rental property in Union Pier and the eye of interior designer @katemarkerinteriors? This little gem of a weekend retreat, @theleocottage ✨
One of the newest national parks in the U.S., @indianadunesnps is just over a three-hour drive from Detroit. We hiked the Cowles Bog loop, which was approximately four miles and took us three hours (baby wearing and with a lunch break by the lake). A hilly, dune-y and beautiful trail, as long as you locked your gaze to the right at the lake and not toward the smokestacks near Gary, IN. 🤦🏻‍♀️
It’s all about that apple pie 🥧 (according to Mack). Living our best weekend warrior lives over here in the most picture-perfect rental cottage I’ve come across yet. Will link it up - along with a few more photos - on Sunday!
If you haven’t put Valade riverfront park on your Detroit winter to-do list, you’ve got till the end of February to grab a spiked cocoa by a bonfire and listen to a DJ alongside the water 🔥
