Roadtrip: Cambridge, Ontario’s Langdon Hall

August 22, 2019August 23, 2019 Jess

Every other year, come April, we trek the three hours to Cambridge, Ontario, where we hole up in the deliciously indulgent Langdon Hall Country Hotel and Spa for just one night. Our excuse for the excess? Anniversary. Pass the champs, please.

“Experiences over things” is a mantra we lean into when we can. So, when we learned that Trevor’s parents would be joining us in Hawaii, we used last Christmas as an opportunity to plan and gift them a mini family photo session at the beach.
M I L F O R D S O U N D // There are a number of things that this place makes you feel, but perhaps the greatest is TINY. The sheer scale of the fjords, the mountains, the roar of the waterfalls. It’s pure magic, in the absolute middle of nowhere.
Dirty diapers. Meltdowns. Never enough snacks. Time changes. Muddy shoes and wet swimsuits. BUT. Also…
E I G H T M O N T H S // In the past month, Ella Jo has racked up three flights, two teeth and her first mountain hike. She’s found her voice. And it’s loud. Lots of “ooohs” and “aaaahs,” which are fitting for New Zealand, and plenty of da-da-da-da, which I’m in denial is in reference to any one person. 🤔
E X P L O R E // In New Zealand, it seems more natural than not to be outside, on foot. Forest trails, garden strolls, mountain hikes, beach wading.
K A U A I // North Shore: If Joshua Tree taught us to slow down, Hanalei taught us patience. More remote, more lush, more wet … you’re simply at the whim of Mother Nature here.
B A C K S T O R Y // Sharing a bit about our decision to tackle this big trip, which has stretched our minds and patience, yet left us in awe - over and over - at one month in.
Here in New Zealand, it’s already Monday, March 6th, which means we’ve officially kicked off birthday celebrations for @trevpawl 🎉
