Traveling Hawaii: Maui there yet?

May 6, 2019May 5, 2019 Jess

No island hopping here, we chose Maui for an eight-day excursion and took our time traveling the island. We spent time in Wailea, Hana and Lahaina and appreciated each for surprisingly different reasons. Find out which we wish we'd stayed at longer, and what can't-miss stops you need to include on your own visit.

May 2, 2019May 2, 2019 Jess

A 90-minute flight away, New York holds all the glamour and grime that you expect of a mega metropolis. Whether you prefer to be sandwiched among the skyscrapers or soaking up the springtime blooms in city parks, there's a version of NYC that won't disappoint. In 72 hours, we did our best to fit in a bit of everything. It worked.

My Valentines. (Let’s pretend that Mack isn’t mean mugging under three layers of hoods on our 19-degree hike, mmkay?) 💛
One of my favorite cookie hacks, which comes from - who else? - my mama, is using white chocolate “melting wafers” as frosting 💕
My eyes are closed. His eyes are closed. And then there’s that epic drool caught mid breeze. But we’re both smiling, and that alone makes it feed worthy 😆
Can we just take a moment to appreciate these Lake Michigan ICE BALLS?! 😳 I’d never seen them in real life before and they are pretty much the coolest winter spectacle I’ve laid eyes on.
What do you get when you combine an adorable rental property in Union Pier and the eye of interior designer @katemarkerinteriors? This little gem of a weekend retreat, @theleocottage ✨
One of the newest national parks in the U.S., @indianadunesnps is just over a three-hour drive from Detroit. We hiked the Cowles Bog loop, which was approximately four miles and took us three hours (baby wearing and with a lunch break by the lake). A hilly, dune-y and beautiful trail, as long as you locked your gaze to the right at the lake and not toward the smokestacks near Gary, IN. 🤦🏻‍♀️
It’s all about that apple pie 🥧 (according to Mack). Living our best weekend warrior lives over here in the most picture-perfect rental cottage I’ve come across yet. Will link it up - along with a few more photos - on Sunday!
If you haven’t put Valade riverfront park on your Detroit winter to-do list, you’ve got till the end of February to grab a spiked cocoa by a bonfire and listen to a DJ alongside the water 🔥
